Interactive, Immersive, Unexpected: Why Nearpod Works
😍Nearpod Experience Tour: Go to a coffee shop to find a "task point"!
The classroom that day was very different. We were divided into several groups, and my group was assigned to go to the caf é on the first floor of Oculus with the goal of talking to the staff and completing the tasks assigned by Nearpod. The instructions on Nearpod are like task cards in a variety show. We follow the instructions step by step, including watching videos to understand the task background, walking to the task point, answering a few questions related to the task, and finally having a conversation with the staff and uploading the results to the platform.Does it sound like a "escape room"? However, the real 'reversal' came - when we arrived at the coffee shop, there was no door open and no staff🤯.
What should I do? The task cannot be stopped! Our group had a sudden idea and played the role of a coffee shop staff member, simulating a conversation and taking serious photos to upload to the Nearpod homework page. Then, we rushed back to the classroom and ended up in second place!
This experience was really fun, not only did it enhance our teamwork skills, but it also stimulated our sense of dedication and creativity towards learning tasks. Although it's a bit of acting, it's precisely this uncertainty that makes us more deeply involved in the task.
The Teaching Magic of Nearpod: It's Not Just a 'Showcase Tool'
This experience has given me a deeper understanding of Nearpod. It is not just a software for presenting PPTs or assigning tasks, but also has several characteristics that make it particularly suitable for teaching scenarios:
1. Interactive Classroom: The Ideal Partner for University Classrooms
The biggest highlight of Nearpod is its ability to interact while attending classes. Teachers can explain the content while allowing students to answer questions, vote, fill in the blanks, and even submit assignments through their mobile phones or computers. This real-time feedback can help teachers understand whether students are keeping up with the content, where they are stuck, and the classroom is no longer a one-way output. Especially suitable for university classrooms, everyone has equipment and there are no barriers to interaction!
2. Homework assignment artifact: Even during holidays, you can play with learning tricks
Nearpod can also assign homework after class, and does not require students to memorize by rote. Instead, it designs some interesting tasks, such as watching a video, taking photos, simulating conversations, etc., which is very suitable for middle and high school students. Especially during holidays, students can complete tasks as long as they have a mobile phone, which is both flexible and fun. This can not only improve the completion rate of homework, but also stimulate students' active interest in learning.
Through this experience, I began to realize that software like Nearpod not only digitizes teaching, but also provides new possibilities in instructional design and interactive methods.
If we can make good use of these tools and cleverly integrate them with teaching objectives, not only can we increase classroom participation, but we can also bring teachers and students closer together. In the future, whether in face-to-face teaching or blended learning, Nearpod may become a powerful auxiliary force.
